You did have a good election and are a credible force in Croydon now. But I think you face a dilemma. You fared no better where you did a lot of work than in the places where you didn't. I think that means that many of your supporters were going to vote Green regardless of your campaign, or anyone else's, but you're not converting any more through campaigning. The Lib Dems' frankly awful result shows that concentrating in one patch does you no good in the long-term if you don't win. And perhaps your vote will return to its original homes.

So you'll have to decide if you're going to put all your resources doorstepping in one area, or go with borough-wide, media-based campaigns. Well done all the same...

Thanks Mat

I've just had a note from Bristol where they gained a council seat, and the overal Green vote in Croydon is far higher than Bristol, possibly double.

The seat they won was gained by an individual who has forged a long term relationship with the local community, not just campaigning.

The Lib Dems possibly lost because of Pat Knight. The electorate are fussy about people changing parties....

Standing up for what matters
